NEC Display Solutions, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, is aggressively addressing these in-school challenges by offering a wide-range of projectors, large-screen displays, desktop monitors and software that work together to help connect students, campus visitors, and faculty throughout the school and in classrooms.
Simplicity is key when it comes to technology for the K12 market; any teacher or administrator needs to be able to utilize the product without missing a beat. Because of this, institutions not only want products that are technologically well equipped but also solutions that are simple to use and affordable. “Most NEC displays can be networked so information can be updated and sent throughout the school immediately,” says Bob Guentner, Senior Product Manager for Projectors at NEC Display Solutions. “Equipment status can be monitored from an admin desk and changes can be made over the network creating an easy to use solution for schools.”
For bigger solutions, K12 schools turn to large screen displays that can be integrated into digital signage solutions for school hallways, cafeterias or even the classroom. “NEC acknowledges this need with our E805 80” and E905 90” displays that offer full HD resolution, commercial functionality, and optional integration of touch capabilities,” says Ben Hardy, Product Manager for Large Screen Displays at NEC Display Solutions. “The beauty of these displays is that they are easy to use and provide a very large canvas at an affordable price.”
On the other hand, interactivity is facilitating new ways of learning and teaching where teachers can virtually interact and collaborate with students in the classroom. Following this idea, NEC’s projector and large-format displays are available with touch-and pen-based interactivity. For example, NEC’s NP-UM351Wi-TM is an interactive ultra-short-throw projector that provides a unique way to engage students in the classroom.

Schools need to be able to share information and manage equipment in real time
Another key tool for interactivity that NEC offers is DisplayNote software. This software provides another method for students to view course content on their own individual devices and share information both while in the classroom and over the cloud from a remote location. Select models of both NEC projectors and large screen displays are compatible with this software.
Highlighting a real-world example, the 48-school Little Rock School District, which serves 24,714 students each day, began to experience problems with their outdated technology and needed an update. After looking for a solution that would provide longevity, the district committee selected NEC projectors for the classrooms, and NEC displays for the cafeterias, gyms and hallways. The projectors provide a bright, clear picture and easy-to-use interface while the large screen displays provide lively, vivid images that catch students' attention and quickly spread information.
There are many different technologies that can effect an education environment but display technology is pioneering the way information is shared and interacted with throughout schools and in the classroom. “NEC aims to continue providing unique products to the education sector with new visual display products and solutions that adhere to the ever-changing K12 environment,” concludes Hardy.
