EduTyping was founded by Michael Gecwich, a passionate teacher who had earned many national-level recognitions. Tired of the laborious and monotonous work of grading his students’ exam papers, Gecwich decided to change the status quo. He set out to create the tools needed to teach K-12 students keyboarding skills, which would help them better articulate via typing. After extensive research, he successfully created EduTyping, which simplified the heavy lifting associated with grading exam papers.

Designed for K-12 students, EduType introduces two separate curricula: EduTyping Junior and EduTyping Secondary. While the former is intended for K-5 grades, the latter aims at middle school students. The course is designed to provide students with the flexibility to move to the next level as they improve their skills. More importantly, the curriculum can be customized to any particular grade. As the platform comes with a user-friendly interface, it takes students through a seamless learning process.

During the learning course, the platform introduces students to homegrown keys on the keyboard. As it provides a self-paced learning experience, students receive individual attention and instruction. With EduTyping, students can operate the program and interact with it at their own pace based on their skill levels. The whole solution is a turnkey offering that enables a school district to use the platform as a standalone LMS (Learning Management System). EduTyping also provides the ability to integrate the platform with an SIS (Student Information System), enabling school districts to update the student roster for teachers every day. Currently, the company provides integration with Clever, ClassLink, and Google Classroom.

Teachers and educators also receive a plethora of benefits from EduTyping. “In addition to auto-grading, the platform provides teachers with real-time visibility into the student’s progress,” mentions Michael Gecwich, CEO of the company. For instance, if a student surfs on Google instead of keyboarding on EduTyping, the teacher knows about it. Teachers are also equipped with a robust set of features that can be used to set preferences and assign assignments based on the student’s skill level. This provides an individualized learning experience for the student. In addition, teachers can create customized lessons using their own content. The feature enables teachers to upload their own content on EduTyping and help students build vocabulary.

In one instance, EduTyping implemented its platform for a school district that wanted to teach K-5 students keyboarding skills. The company’s team worked with the client to create a customized curriculum, which allowed all the students to learn typing. More than 25,000 students learned advanced typing skills using the platform. More importantly, the company trained their elementary school teachers on best practices of typing and started integrating the same methodology into their teaching. Moving ahead, the company plans to include coding lessons on various programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. By expanding to new areas of education, EduTyping plans to expand its business rapidly and become one of the leading EdTech companies in the U.S.
