Presentria is driven by the mission of addressing the evolving needs of the modern classroom. The company was founded by a visionary and an award-winning professor in Canada's higher education sector, Dr. Ken Kwong-Kay Wong. Presentria’s philosophy is deeply rooted in his extensive teaching experience. The story began at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies in the spring of 2003 when Dr. Wong embarked on his teaching journey in Canada. With each passing class, he observed that certain students consistently faced challenges in the form of confusion, shyness, fatigue, and distraction within the classroom. As an educator deeply committed to the principles of inclusive teaching and learning, he strongly believed that there must be a more effective way to engage students, irrespective of whether they were attending classes on campus, online, or in the field. By 2011, after instructing his 6000th student, he recognized that the time was right to actualize inclusive teaching and learning through the use of technology. He initiated a partnership with Professor Paul Lam from the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and collaborated with skilled developers at Edvant Hong Kong to work on a classroom response system named uReply. Following its initial software release in September 2012, this ground-breaking system garnered interest from over 2,000 professors at CUHK alone, leading to more than 20,000 sessions and 4.5 million pageviews. The notion of developing a classroom response system tailored to the Canadian educational landscape had been brewing in Dr. Wong's mind after implementing uReply in his classes at the University of Toronto, Ryerson University, and Seneca Polytechnic. After two years of diligent preparation, Presentria was officially established in 2020, alongside the launch of Presentria GO — Canada's pioneering experiential place-based learning tool.
The focus in today’s educational landscape is increasingly shifting toward equipping students with essential life skills that go beyond traditional academic learning. This is particularly relevant in the current climate, where there is a growing emphasis on self-regulated learning and effective executive function skills, especially following the disruptions caused by COVID-19. Traditionally, educational technology has primarily focused on providing tools for teachers, allowing them to manage lessons, while students are left as passive participants. Even the tools available to students emphasize primarily on grades and performance, often overlooking broader skill development. As a result, students struggle to stay engaged and motivated in their studies. Resolving these issues requires a fresh approach to how students interact with their education. By emphasizing the development of self-regulated learning techniques, Studyo addresses this gap by providing students with modern project-management tools for planning their work, and building organizational skills, thus making their educational experience more relevant and engaging. In today's digital classrooms, where paper planners are being phased out, Studyo Go serves as an advanced digital planner. It acts as individual planners centrally connected to a school's timetables, allowing teachers to post assignments while still giving students the autonomy to enter their tasks and manage their workload. “Most digital devices and learning management systems (LMS) serve only to facilitate communication between teachers and students, designed for information dissemination and submission of work. Our platform empowers students to take control of their own learning, fostering skills essential for self-regulation and time management,” says Renaud Boisjoly, founder and CPO of Studyo. For instance, the tool displays homework and exam dates while also layering this information onto the student's entire schedule. This comprehensive overview allows them to see how their tasks fit into their daily school schedule, helping them make informed decisions about time management.

Leveraging EdTech to Create Inclusive and Personalized Learning
EdTech is revamping Canadian assessments with AI-powered platforms, real-time analytics, and personalized digital tools, providing deeper insights into student progress and learning outcomes. This shift aligns with Canada's commitment to fostering inclusive and progressive education systems that prioritize adaptive learning for students with diverse needs. Advanced data analytics and machine learning are pivotal in this transformation, enabling educators to monitor student progress continuously. Platforms now use predictive algorithms to deliver instant, personalized feedback to students while equipping teachers with actionable insights. These adaptive digital assessments pinpoint individual learning gaps and strengths, supporting the creation of custom learning pathways. Furthermore, longitudinal tracking, supported by cloud-based systems, allows educators to measure growth over time, identify trends, and implement timely, targeted interventions. The use of predictive analytics helps flag students at risk of underperformance, enabling proactive support strategies. The integration of AI-driven assessment tools, teacher-focused digital development platforms, and interoperable education technologies enhances instructional strategies, promotes equitable learning, boosts student engagement, and supports evidence-based policy decisions. As Canada continues to adopt these innovations, education is becoming more personalized, data-informed, and responsive to each student’s unique learning journey.
